Membership Registration · Eligibility · Entitlements

All bonafide students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Alliance University are eligible to register as library members.

Library membership is non-transferable.The University ID card also serves as the library ID, and library cards and login credentials must not be shared with others.

For Students/Research Scholars:

  1. Visit the ERP Portal: portal.alliance.edu.in
  2. Log in with your allotted student credentials.
  3. Click "Library" from the left navigation and select "Library Membership Application".
  4. Enter your place name, accept the library policy, and click Submit.

For Staff / Faculty: Login at portal.alliance.edu.in/auerp/Login.do and follow the above mentioned steps to submit the membership form.

Bio-Metric Registration:  Kindly visit the Central Library Information Desk to complete your Bio-Metric Registration for the authentication required for the book borrowing facility.

Note: Membership approval will be sent to your institutional email ID. Check your Alliance University email regularly.

Yes. Membership may be suspended for repeated delays in returning books or for violating library guidelines. The Librarian reserves the right to refuse admission to policy violators.

Students leaving the University without clearing dues will have the amount deducted from their caution deposit.

Borrowing, Returns & Renewals OPAC · RFID Kiosk · Overdue

  1. Go to library.alliance.edu.in.
  2. Select a filter: Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, ISBN, Call Number, or Accession No.
  3. Enter your search term and press Enter.
  4. Click a result to see its call number, location, and availability status.
Tip: Books are arranged by Dewey Decimal Classification. The call number is the book's "address" on the shelf (e.g., 658.15 for Financial Management).

  1. Login to library.alliance.edu.in via Microsoft SSO.
  2. Click "Charges" (top left) to view outstanding dues.
  3. Click "Next", then "Pay Online".
  4. Select a payment method and complete the transaction.
  5. Re-check your account to confirm zero balance.
Important: If dues still appear after payment, do not pay again. Email library@alliance.edu.in with payment details. You cannot borrow books while dues are outstanding.

  1. Take books to the RFID Self Checkout Kiosk.
  2. Select "Issue" on the kiosk screen.
  3. Show your face/palm to authenticate yourself.
  4. Verify the details displayed on the monitor to ensure they are correct.
  5. Place all books on the RFID Self Checkout Panel.
  6. Verify book details on screen and click "Confirm".
  7. View details of issued books and due date.
  8. Collect the Issue slip
  9. Press "Exit" button to complete the process
Note: A checkout receipt with the due date is emailed to your institutional email. Check your email regularly for overdue reminders.

  1. Renewal of Books can only be done online using library.alliance.edu.in
  2. Go to library.alliance.edu.in and login via Microsoft SSO with your Alliance email.
  3. Tick the checkboxes next to the books to renew.
  4. Click "Renew Selected" or "Renew All".
  5. Renewed status with a new due date will be displayed on the screen.
Note: A renewal confirmation will be emailed to your institutional email. Renewal is not allowed if another member has placed a hold on the book. For any assiatance please email library@alliance.edu.in.

  1. Take books to the RFID Book Drop Box
  2. Return Books one at a time.
  3. Place RFID tagged book on the designated area.
  4. Gently push the book inside, once the flap unlocks.
  5. Wait for the system to process your return.
  6. Collect your return slip
  7. Repeat this process for each book you wish to return
  8. Collect the return slip 
Note: A return receipt will be emailed to your institutional email.

  1. Login to library.alliance.edu.in via Microsoft SSO.
  2. Search for the book and open its detail page.
  3. Click "Place Hold" at the top right.
  4. You will receive an email when the book becomes available.
  5. Collect the book within 48 hours of notification, otherwise it goes to the next person in queue.
Note: You cannot hold a book currently on the shelf. Holds are only for books already issued to other members.

Report immediately to the Librarian in writing. Penalties applicable:

  • Available in market: Replace with same/latest edition + Technical Processing Fee Rs. 100.
  • Out of Stock books: Pay double the cost + Rs. 100 fee + overdue charges.
  • Multi-volume set: Pay for the entire set cost.
  • Rare / out-of-print: Pay double cost + Rs. 100 fee, or as fixed by the Librarian.

Off-campus Access: Use idp.alliance.edu.in with your Alliance credentials.

  • Free NPTEL — IIT/IISc video and web courses.
  • Free Swayam Prabha — DTH and online educational content.

  • Free South Asia Commons — Rare primary sources.
  • On-campus DELNET Digital Library — 2.9 crore+ books, 5,000+ e-journals.

Audio Books: Visit the Central Library Audio/Visual Section and deposit your ID card at the library counter to collect CDs/DVDs. These CDs/DVDs can be accessed only on the Digital Library computers within the library. Audio books are also available for online access

Video Library: The Audio/Visual Section provides access to Harvard Business School case videos, soft skills training videos, and award-winning films for individual viewing at the Central Library.

Subject-Specific Online Databases Business · Law · Engineering · Design

Remote Access Off-campus · IDP · Law · Mobile

  1. Go to the Remote Access portal: idp.alliance.edu.in
  2. Login with your Alliance University email and password.
  3. Select the database from the list and you will be redirected with full access.
Accessible via IDP: JSTOR, ProQuest, IEEE IEL, HeinOnline, CAS SciFinder, Scopus, Web of Science, and more. For access issues, email library@alliance.edu.in.

The following law databases are accessible off-campus via the IDP portal (idp.alliance.edu.in):

  • HeinOnline — Full-text law journals, government documents, and treaties.
  • LexisNexis Advance India — Supreme Court, High Courts, bare acts, and legal journals.

MyLOFT (My Library on Finger Tips) is a mobile app that provides off-campus access to the library’s subscribed e-resources on your smartphone or tablet.

  1. Download the MyLOFT app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. Register using your Alliance University institutional email ID.
  3. Search and access subscribed e-journals and databases from anywhere.
Tip: MyLOFT works best for journal article discovery. For full database access, use the IDP portal at idp.alliance.edu.in from a desktop browser.

The following resources require the campus network and cannot be accessed remotely:

Research Support Plagiarism · Citations · Patents · Reference Tools

  • Faculty can submit documents directly through the Turnitin portal.
  • Students final checking of the document to be done by supervisor or department.
    • Post Graduate Students: Can send request to libray@alliance.edu.in for turnitin account creation
    • Under Graduate Students: Email the document to library@alliance.edu.in with subject "Similarity Check Request".

Derwent Innovation provides access to Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI), a curated patent database with editorially curated titles and abstracts, special subject matter classification coding and indexing, and proprietary patent invention-centric family building.  Kindly visit the library to access the database.

The library subscribes to Funding Institutional — 40,000+ active funding opportunities, 8 million+ awarded grants, and profiles of 15,000+ global funders.

  • SPSS is a comprehensive, user-friendly package for general statistics, data management, and predictive analytics.

    IBM SPSS and IBM AMOS software has been installed on one of the systems in the 2nd Floor Lab, Learning Centre-1. For any assistance, please contact ITS Helpdesk.

  • JMP (www.jmp.com) is a statistical discovery software from SAS — a powerful desktop-based point-and-click software for statistical data analysis, used in 900+ universities worldwide for teaching and research.

Gnanaganga provides access to AU's scholarly output: Faculty publications, Doctoral theses, Dissertations, and Student project reports.

DDS allows members to request full-text articles not in the AU Library collection, sourced from other institutions in compliance with copyright law.

Submit a request at Research Support → Document Delivery Service or email library@alliance.edu.in.

ILL enables members to borrow books unavailable in the AU Central Library from partner libraries across India through DELNET and other networks.

Contact the Circulation Desk or email library@alliance.edu.in with full bibliographic details of the required item.

Yes. A photocopying facility is available at nominal charges. Only library reference materials may be photocopied as per AU's copyright policy. 

The Visual Aid Section in the Central Library provides specialized resources and assistive technologies to support inclusive learning and accessibility for all users

  • JAWS Talking Software – Screen reading software that converts the computer into a talking computer, enabling visually impaired users to access digital content.
  • Open Book Scanner with Pearl High-Speed Camera – Provides real-time text-to-speech conversion from printed books and documents.
  • Duxbury Braille Translator (DBT) – Supports multi-language text-to-Braille conversion for accessible reading materials.
  • Braille Printer / Embosser – Enables multi-language Braille printing for visually challenged users.

Yes. Regular Library Orientation Programs cover OPAC, e-resources, databases, citation styles, reference management, and plagiarism awareness. One-to-one sessions are available on request.

Newly acquired books are displayed in the New Arrival section before general lending. New arrivals are also announced on the library blog: alliancelib.blogspot.com.

Rules & Guidelines Conduct · Dress Code · Policies

  • Display your University ID card at the entrance and whenever requested by library staff.
  • Sign in the entry register at the library entrance.
  • Personal items (bags, folders, files, jackets) must be kept at the Belongings Counter. Lost token penalty: Rs. 100.
  • Do not bring valuables, the library is not responsible for them.
  • Books removed from shelves must not be re-shelved, leave them on the table for staff.
  • Do not mark, underline, or write in any library materials.
  • Digital Library computers are only for accessing subscribed e-resources.
  • Clear all library dues at the end of every semester.

  • Silence must be maintained at all times. Group discussions are strictly prohibited.
  • Mobile phones and sound devices are not permitted and may be confiscated.
  • Food and beverages are not allowed inside the library.
  • Maintain the prescribed dress code while in the library.
  • Books are for personal study only, not for commercial use or bulk copying.

The library is open Monday to Sunday, 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM.
