Welcome to Alliance University Central Library

Alliance University Central Library commenced operations in 2008. It is housed in an independent, dome shaped building with four floors and a total carpet area of 55,000 Sq. Ft. This area is divided into the following sections: Circulation; Reference; Periodical; Audiovisual; Book Bank; and the Kannada language section. The Central Library has ample seating capacity on all floors and can accommodate 1000 users.

Alliance Libraries are fully computerized with RFID & Bar-Code technology and the libraries are using KOHA integrated library management software for automating all library operations. Koha is a Full catalogue module which enables library staff to capture details of all library items, it is MARC compliant, and z39.50 compliant, meaning data entry and exchange will be greatly simplified. The circulation module fully automates borrowing and item management. Library Catalogue is hosted on Cloud with Web OPAC.

Library has a collection of Books, Periodicals, Journal Bound Volumes, Case Studies, Articles, CD/DVD/VCD’s, Dissertations and Theses, Audio Books, E-Books, E-Journals, Student’s Projects Reports and e-resources.

Library has adopted Open Access System; this enables readers to go to the stacks, browse, select books and other sources freely. The printed material in the library is classified as per Dewey decimal classification. Bay guides and Shelf-lists are provided at the storage locations and on storage racks, to easy find the information material that reader need.
